My husband and I are new to Southwestern MI as well as new 76 vw camper owners. We are planning to attend, but not sure if we need to notify anyone to "officially" sign up, other than the campground. Also, we have a 5 year old and wonder what to expect for the days of camping. From the other pics and what not, it looks like a GREAT time and we are very excited!! Just looking for any info, since we have not experienced the "Buses By the Beach" thing before! Also, where is everyone from? I am in Berrien Springs, MI, just curious how far away everyone is! Peace Kerri & Tim

Hi Kerri, You can expect to meet a lot of great people from all over the country. We have several people that come up from the South Bend area, a few come down from Canada, Missouri, just about everywhere. As far as you having your 5 yr. old we encourage anyone to bring their families. You'll find several children that are around the same age and lots of stuff for them to do at the campground. Typically Friday night is getting settled in with some campfire and conversation. A few people bring guitars and what not to play around the fire. Saturday will be the carshow which starts out with a carabus to the ballpark where the show is held. This is a riot, we all line up and drive down the main drag a few miles together and certainly turn some heads. This not something you have to do but it is a great time. This year we will be having Herbie "the love bug" at the carshow along with 50+ Karmann Ghias. Later once we're back at the park we have a family dinner with most all the campers together. Not sure at this point what we will be having yet. We also have a raffle with some great VW related prizes donated from the likes of GoWesty, Volkswagen of Am. etc.. More campfire and conversation. There's a lake and playground at the campground and lots to do in the area. You can make your reservations at www.grandrogue.com or just register when you arrive. The park prefers prereg but either is fine. We look for to meeting you and your family. The Volks at Buses by the Beach.com

Hi Kerri and Tim, Glad to hear you are coming this spring. It is going to be a awesome time. This event is designed to be "kid friendly" with lots for them to do. My son is 5 and my daughter is 3 and every year they look forward to and can't wait for Buses By the Beach. It is really neat to see all the kids having as much fun as the adults. It would be helpful to register with the Campground before you come so we can plan how much space is needed. I would plan on meals for Friday night, Saturday morning, and Sunday. And then it is always helpful to have snacks with kids. Please feel free to post if you have more questions. Todd Olson

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the info!! My hubby is out trying to fix an oil leak as we speak so that I can "officially" make my reservations with confidence!! I have been telling everyone I know about it. I think it will be quite the experience!! Hope to meet all of you in a few weeks!!
