With the help of Billy and Brien, "Wendy" the wander westy, has a new heart . Cathy and I can't say enough about the effort these guys put into getting our van back on the road. As if towing us to the campout and back wasn't enough, they made the transition of the engines a personal project, giving their time to make ours a happy "road home" again. Brien gave me a place to stay and a garage to work in. Billy dropped everything to make sure it was all done right. They made my labor of love, THEIR labor of love. A special Thank You to Sara and Katie for giving up their mates for the long hours helping us.
From the moment my van went down, when Todd miraculously pulled off the road to check on me (please, what are the odds of that??!!), till Billy and Brien had the new engine purring in front of Brien's shop, it has been a wonderful Buses By the Beach community experience.
I have 160 miles on the new engine tonight and i'll sleep happily with my van parked safely, and healthy, in my driveway.
Thank You so much Brien and Billy!!!! And to all of you who gave us good thoughts and words of encouragement Thank You as well!! We're looking forward to seeing you at the next BBtB event.

You are corect Charlie, it was a labor of love. Their is just something fun about hanging out your buddies and working on a bus. You got to see first hand the fun and joking that goes into it even when we had to drop the motor again to reseat the torque convertor. Life happens and I'm both proud and privileged to be a part of Wendys' heart transplant.

Engine update 6/13/06........ Well, 1000 mile break-in period is about to end and the engine is running pretty good I'm very happy to say! Had a moment where she stalled, out of the blue, but has run smoothly since. Brien, Billy and Roger (and our supporting volksfolk cast of characters) took some time at Bus Blue Grass to check out some things with the multimeter, the O2, temp sensor, fuel pressure at the "T",(and a few grounds...gots to be grounded!) and came up with an "out of position" distributor lower shaft which Brien deftly re-positioned and re-timed (so nice to have a clock craftman in the house!). We had been having problems running with the O2 hooked up so unhooked the O2 and ran it to Todd's/Niles, but after the re-alignment she's run'n sweet with everything where it should be hooked up.
Thanks again to Roger, Billy and Brien (and Todd!) for getting dirty with Wendy saturday afternoon!!

Hey man, that what being a Community is all about. It's our pleasure! I'm glad to hear we got the 'bugs' worked out of your bus.
