I just drug this westy out of the countryside in my area. Shes been sitting along time. I guess it came out of the south bend area sometime in the 90's and was owned by a couple that traveled cross country in it at some point. Thier last name was Kemp. They got divorced he sold bus to a guy and passed thru a couple hands up till I bought it last week. Supposedly his last name was Kemp just wondering if anybody recognizes the name or bus???Supposedly this kemp fellow lives in the kalamazoo area currently.. It appears to be pretty nice apart from having set so long.. I've never really posted here but was told about this site when I met Todd a few years back while driving my 66 westy thru town (michigan city).

Sweet Bus find! I see the potential. Unfortunately I can't help you with the history of the bus. It's not one I am familiar with. And that is saying something. I know most of them in the upper Midwest. :-) Maybe someone else will be able to help on this one. Is it going to be on the road in time for Bus Benefit Memorial Day Weekend? Good to hear from you! Todd

Hey Todd. Doubt it will be on the road by that time but I might try and make it out in one of my other buses. This thing needs everything gone thru i tore out the motor and gas tank yesterday first time i ever pulled a type 4 motor.. it should run with fresh gas and a tune up i think. If you know anybody with a cheap gas tank for it let me know.

Hey, BusKid: Where in South Bend? I have lived in South Bend for most of my life and know a few Kemps.
We have 2 buses - a '79 Westy and an '87 Westy.
Where's home base for you?

I am in michigan city. I got the background story from the 80 year old previous owner so details are a bit sketchy.. Im guessing it was last on the road late 80s early 90's though.
